Robin Owings 　(ロビン・オウィングス)

1991年アメリカ、アラバマ州生まれ。幼少期に合気道をはじめる。大学では人間生態学、植物学、美術を専攻。卒業後数年はメイン州で農業やガーデニングをして過ごす。絵画、音楽、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスといった様々な形の 術作品を制作している。2015年、かねてより念願であった合気道京都の道場長・岡本洋子の指導を受けるため来日する。合気道の修行中には京都の風景のスケッチとサウンドスケッチをする活動を始める。自然を調査することで自分を自由にすることができるので、合気道を研究することとアートを作ることは私にとって関係があります。私にとって芸術的実践とは、目の前の生きている世界に近づき、正面に座り、よく見ることと、その質感に触れることの練習であり、好奇心から「生きているものの美しさ」を祝うことです。

Born in Alabama, USA, in 1991. Robin began studying aikido as a child. In university, she studied human ecology, botany and art, and spent several years farming and gardening in the state of Maine. She has created various works of art such as painting, music, installation, and performance. In 2015, she came to Japan to study aikido intensively under Yoko Okamoto, dojo-cho of Aikido Kyoto. She finds aikido and art making to be interrelated practices; she explores how to free the self through the study of nature. She approaches the living world in front of and within her, sits with it, looks closely, and explores it's texture. Her curiosity celebrates the beauty in all living things.
